BELL SQUARE

Hounslow town centre, the Borough’s largest town centre, contains well-known national chains while the borough’s rich diversity can be seen throughout the High Street in its mix of bustling shops.

Hounslow’s new High Street Quarter, including its iconic 27-storey tower, provides 500 new homes and over 1200 m2 of retail and leisure space.

A new masterplan has identified 10 sites that can deliver 3,100 new homes and 1,450 jobs.

CHISWICK MARKET

CHISWICK

Boasting a variety of independent shops, cafes and restaurant and bustling markets. Chiswick Common and Turnham Green provide a tranquil leafy counterpoint.

Hounsow Council in partnership with Willmott Dixon is bringing a new £40m health centre to Chiswick including
55 affordable homes.

BRENTFORD

Located at the meeting point of River Thames, River Brent and the Grand Union Canal providing a unique historical and environmental setting to the town centre.

The Brentford Project is delivering 876 new homes, a cinema and premises for 50 new shops, cafes and restaurants.

With a rich industrial and agricultural heritage, has become a destination for shopping and leisure with beautiful green surrounds.

The Feltham Town Centre GLA designated Housing Zone is estimated to have a capacity to deliver approximately 3,300 new homes by 2026.

Feltham’s MOD site is expected to come forward in 2027 delivering up to 1500 new homes.

GREENING THE ECONOMY

Amidst our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability, Hounslow Council spearheads environment and climate change programmes for London Councils and the UK Cities Climate Investment Commission. Notably, we are leading the pan-London Green Economy Action Plan, aiming to double the size of the city’s green economy by 2030.

HESTON IN THE LOOP: A PIONEER CIRCULAR COMMUNITY

A first-of-its-kind circular economy neighbourhood model, this project is dedicated to cultivating a community that fully embraces the principles of circular consumption. With ambitions reaching beyond its boundaries, the aim is to implement this innovative model not only throughout the borough but across the capital too.

NET ZERO NEIGHBOURHOODS: GREEN OPPORTUNITIES

Hounslow is actively seeking partners for our ‘net-zero neighbourhoods’ model to create a scalable place-based decarbonising of domestic properties across the borough. The model will deliver deep whole house retrofit, introduce renewable energy alongside other low carbon neighbourhood interventions.

Hounslow’s District Heat Network

The Council’s has committed to reduce carbon emissions from its own operations to net zero by 2030. The ambition is to decarbonise council assets and social housing by installing low carbon technologies and developing a borough-wide district heat network that will distribute heat from a central location to homes and businesses through a network of underground pipes. It will enable buildings to make use of renewable, low carbon heat sources and will reduce borough-wide carbon emissions. 

CASE STUDY: GREEN INNOVATION AND ENTERPRISE HUB

Brunel University, West London Innovation Network (LWIN) and West London Business are partnering with Hounslow Council to develop a Green Innovation and Enterprise Hub. This collaboration aims to catalyze research, development, and innovation, promoting green jobs and encouraging green growth within the borough.

Sky, Disney, Sony, Eurosport, Paramount, CBS, Discovery and QVC call Hounslow home, sustaining an ecosystem of music, lighting and sound; costumes and make-up; virtual reality; film locations and production space; and auxiliary support services such as catering and security – as well as specialist schools and higher and further education focus.

Based in Chiswick, Brompton Technology is a global market leader in virtual and extended reality processing, vital for broadcast production and gaming industries. Cited by the Financial Times as one of Europe’s fastest growing companies, the multiple award-winning firm relocated to Hounslow in 2022 with a 50% increase in manufacturing capacity and a spacious, dedicated demo area and virtual production test zone.

JIMMY CHOO ACADEMY

Jimmy Choo’s London Fashion Academy has opened a new campus and maker space in historic Boston Manor House Brentford. It houses atelier workshops and design studios with specialist fabrication tools, focused on artisan crafts, design and accessory making, along with co-working areas and event space.

Hounslow’s Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ)

As well as hosting major media firms, there are an array of small-scale makers and artists feeding into London’s creative supply chain. Upskilling, strengthening creative careers pathways and affordable workspaces are key themes of Creative Enterprise West. The new Boston Manor Arts Market, studios at Boston Manor House (now occupied by the Jimmy Choo Academy) been delivered within the zone. While events like the Creative Mile and the Brentford Canal Festival have been beacons to promote the area.

Powering Creative Ambition

Power Road, within Hounslow’s CEZ, is a hive of creative activity centred around the Light Box at Chiswick Studios. The workspaces behind the striking art-deco façade house dozens of creative entrepreneurs. Around the corner at Chiswick Park is a who’s who of broadcasters from Paramount and Discover to QVC and CBS. The areas wider Great West Corridor is identified in the Mayor’s London Plan as an Opportunity area with the potential for 7,500 new homes and 14,000 new jobs by 2041.
