Why this matters for Hounslow

Hounslow is one of London’s key growth boroughs, home to global businesses, a strong local economy and significant regeneration.

Future Hounslow brings together the Council and the University of West London to align investment, skills, innovation and community priorities behind a shared vision.

For businesses, this means a more connected and supportive environment to grow.
For residents, it means better access to opportunity, skills and good jobs.

What it means for businesses

Future Hounslow strengthens the conditions for business growth in the borough.

Access to a stronger local workforce

The agreement focuses on improving skills and education pathways so that businesses can access talent that meets current and future needs, from entry-level roles through to graduate and specialist skills

Plans include developing an innovation accelerator and knowledge transfer hub, helping businesses, particularly SMEs and start-ups, connect with research, ideas and talent.

This is especially relevant for sectors such as creative technology, health and life sciences and innovation-led industries, where Hounslow has strong growth potential.

Future Hounslow supports major regeneration ambitions, including the Golden Mile London, which is one of London’s largest Creative Enterprise Zones.

With thousands of new homes and jobs planned, this creates new markets, new talent and new opportunities for businesses to expand and invest.

Businesses will have more opportunities to collaborate with the Council and the University of West London, shaping skills provision, contributing to social value and influencing how growth is delivered locally.

What it means for residents

Future Hounslow is designed to ensure that growth creates opportunity for local people.

Better access to skills and learning

The agreement will expand access to education and training, including plans for a higher education hub in Feltham and more flexible learning opportunities.

By aligning skills with business needs and regeneration activity, the partnership will help residents connect more directly to job opportunities being created in the borough.

Community health is a core part of the agreement, with a focus on addressing local needs and supporting wellbeing through partnership working and expanded provision.

Future Hounslow supports a fair transition to a low-carbon economy, helping residents access training and jobs in emerging sectors such as green logistics and sustainable infrastructure.
